Christmas shopping in Madrid!

By | 6 December, 2016 | 0 comments

Christmas Day and January 6th (Three Kings Day or Epiphany) are around the corner and with them come the presents from Father Christmas and the Three Kings. If you still haven’t started your Christmas shopping and don’t know where to begin, pay attention to this shopping route we’ve proposed below. It has everything you need and for all budgets.

Gran Vía and Preciados
Without doubt, these two streets are Madrid’s shopping streets par excellence. Their central location and the huge variety of shops that you can find there make it paradise for shopaholics. Clothes, shoes, music, toys, perfume shops, jewellery stores… You can find anything! And if you can’t find it, then it probably doesn’t exist!

Even if you’re not planning on buying anything, walking around the Gran Vía or Preciados in December is worth it due to the beautiful Christmas lights that decorate the streets, well worthy of admiration.

Plaza Mayor Christmas Market

As well as gifts for family and friends, don’t you think that your Nativity scene or your Christmas tree deserve a gift? If the answer is “yes”, head over to Plaza Mayor, where you can find a wonderful Christmas market that is just as good as those in Prague or Vienna. It has dozens of stalls that sell varied and colourful figurines and decorations. You won’t know which ones to take home with you!

Plaza de España and Plaza de Jacinto Benavente craft fairs

Those looking for something handmade and unique will find their own paradise in these two central locations. Dozens of stalls congregate here offering authentic leather goods, exquisitely designed silver jewellery, homemade scented-oil soaps and educational wooden toys for the kids. Visit them and buy that special unique present that you are looking for.

Plaza Isabel II Christmas Sweet Fair
Also known as Plaza de Ópera, since this is where the entrances to the metro stop and the Teatro Real are, this pretty location in the heart of the Habsburg district in Madrid hosts a Christmas market dedicated entirely to gastronomic products. In its stalls, you can find anything from Arab cakes, hot chocolate and churros and the traditional polvorones and marzipan. Enjoy, it’s Christmas!
