Eating healthy and delicious food is possible

By | 5 April, 2016 | 0 comments

Let’s use a cliché because, let’s face it, all clichés have some truth in them: it’s time to lose some pounds in order to be ready for the summer. And also, because good health is more than just having a good figure.

Eating proper, healthy food doesn’t have to be boring. You can verify that in restaurants such as My Veg (Calle Valverde, 28), where its fusion-cuisine specialities with a vegan twist (the menu includes meat) are a pleasant surprise. Make sure you try its dehydrated artichokes with lemon.

La Huerta de Tudela is another restaurant that uses fresh products from Navarre, such as asparagus, peppers and the classic menestra (vegetable stew). Try its menu of the day for 18.50€, which includes traditional dishes such as kidney beans with piparras (Basque chilli peppers) or a delicious yellow pumpkin cream soup. As a main, Orio-style turbot and, if you fancy something not as healthy, some juicy crunchy pig’s feet, all made by the Navarre chef Ricardo Gil.

Next to Callao is Vega, a restaurant that defines itself as “ecological”. It serves homemade fresh-produce seasonal cuisine on a vegan menu. Beetroot hummus, roast potatoes with Vega sauce or a seasonal tomato carpaccio are just some of the recipes served in this restaurant with a cosy wooden decor, which also has an ecological wine and beer list. Find it on Calle de la Luna, 9.

Zoco Comidero is a restaurant located on Calle de La Morería, a flexiterian restaurant. What is flexiterian? It’s a cuisine that primes vegetables but without entirely neglecting meat. In this restaurant, for example, you can find oily fish, fundamental thanks to their fatty acids; and a trio of mini-burgers, which include salmon burger with tzatziki, vegetarian burger with muhammara and an ecological beef one with homemade mustard. Price: 9.90€.

Enjoy your meal and, also, enjoy your health!
