Late summer terraces

By | 29 August, 2016 | 0 comments

Although the summer season is officially over on September 21st, Madrid enjoys a new autumn or an endless summer that goes on until late October. This is a great time of year to enjoy the many bar terraces in the city, which are even more pleasant thanks to the milder temperatures. One of them is Terraza Mercado San Antón, a large space (more than 4,000 ft2) with stunning views of the colourful district of Chueca. It has an indoor area where you can also enjoy excellent and original food made with fresh produce of the highest quality. Make sure you get a table by booking on here: +34 91 3300294.

Still up high, in the neighbouring district of Malasaña, there is another terrace that is worth visiting: El Paracaidista. It is an ideal place for afternoon cocktails or on warm nights, with its long teak tables on a carpet floor making it extra comfortable and elegant when there is a full moon. For legal reasons, you have to provide your personal details to go in, which you can do on Calle de la Palma, 10. The fact that it has an air of secrecy about it makes it even more appealing.

Back on the ground, Plaza del Rey, located next to Calle Barquillo and close to Gran Vía and Calle Alcalá, is an excellent place to enjoy a relaxing beer. At La Revoltosa (Taberna para gatos), you can enjoy original burgers, such as the famous Chulapa Burger, winner of many gastronomic awards.

Lastly, since it’s next door, it’s worth going back up to the sky, in this case at the rooftop of the Círculo de Bellas Artes, a privileged spot with its 360º view of the city. The gastronomic space is known as Tartan Roof and it serves tasty light dishes such as ceviche, warm broth with delicious spices or cold tomato soup.
