Madrid’s most romantic places

By | 18 August, 2023 | 0 comments

If you’re thinking of surprising your partner with a romantic evening, Madrid is the perfect spot. And while other cities like Rome or Paris are better known for their romanticism, Madrid is more than a match for any of them. These three places are guaranteed to surprise you.

Sunset at the Temple of Debod

The Temple of Debod is one of the city’s romantic hotspots. Sunsets here are perfect for a picnic with your partner, or maybe even a marriage proposal. Most people already know about this Egyptian temple, but in case you happen to be one of those who don’t, let us tell you a little about its history. The Temple of Debod was built in the 2nd century BC and donated by the Egyptian government to prevent it from being flooded during construction of the Aswan Dam. Both the temple and the surrounding gardens are located in what is known as the Cuartel de la Montaña Park, near the Plaza de España, without a doubt a unique setting for one of those unforgettable moments as a couple.

El Capricho Park

This small, lesser-known park in Madrid is the one that offers the most romantic background. It is located in the Barajas district and only opens on weekends and public holidays. It was built between 1787 and 1893 by the Dukes of Osuna, and in particular the Duchess Soledad Alonso Pimentel.

The garden encompasses three different styles: parterre, or French garden, English landscape, and the Italian giardino, any of which provides the ideal backdrop for a romantic, intimate soiree. The park also houses a maze and a number of gazebos, fountains and small squares, among other decorative elements.

The Círculo de Bellas Artes rooftop terrace

This terrace crowns the Círculo de Bellas Artes and offers one of the most beautiful, near-360-degree panoramic vistas of the rooftops of the capital. It is also home to a fine restaurant offering a choice of classic dishes with a Mediterranean flavour and international touches. The menu has mainly been designed for sharing with the one you love.

They also offer an extensive before-or-after-dinner cocktail menu featuring more classic fare such as Mojito, Piña Colada or Caipirinha as well as more extravagant delights such as the Pink Panther (Beefeater pink gin, orange juice, squeezed lemon juice, grenadine and Sprite) or the Rooftop Cocktail (Ballantine’s whisky, lemon, cranberry and ginger ale).

And what better way to round off the evening than to stay at a city-centre hotel such as our Hotel Moderno. See offers here.
