Family Christmas in Madrid

By | 22 December, 2016 | 0 comments

We all know that children are the real stars of the Christmas holidays, but adults too have the right to have fun like when they were children again, don’t they? This is why we propose these different plans for the whole family that will help you enjoy an unforgettable Christmas in Madrid.

Riding the Naviluz, Madrid’s Christmas bus

Madrid is a beautiful city to discover on foot… and by bus! The best bus for the Christmas holidays is Naviluz, a bus that does a 45-minute tour of the city centre, the best way to see the spectacular Christmas lights on the streets of the centre of Madrid. It starts and finishes in Plaza de Colón, right in front of number 30 of Calle Serrano. The first departure is at 6.00 p.m. and the last one at 11.00 p.m., with tickets available at affordable prices.

Discover Cortylandia

This animated-figurine show with Christmas carols is a Christmas classic in Madrid. Every year, the Corte Inglés department store in Preciados decorates its façade of Calle Preciados, 3 with a mural of giant puppets that entertain all passers-by. Fun, colourful and, best of all, free!

Visit the Nativity scene of Palacio de Cibeles

You can’t have Christmas without a good Nativity scene, so if you love this Neapolitan tradition and you want your children to be fascinated by it too, why not visit together the beautiful Nativity scene located in Patio de Operaciones at Palacio de Comunicaciones, in the heart of Plaza de Cibeles? It’s a traditional scene made with the collaboration of the Nativity Scene Association of Madrid. It’s open from the 25th of November until January 8th and admission is free!

Katena, a show of light and colour
In December, Madrid comes alive with many shows intended for audiences of all ages and one of the best ones of 2016 is Katena, an inflatable sculpture that houses a universe of light and colour in its interior built in the main courtyard of Centro Cultural Conde Duque. It’s like entering a giant multi-colour igloo! This is an excellent option for the whole family and we guarantee that you have never seen anything like it. Tickets cost just 3 euros per person.
