The best street markets in Madrid during the month of May

There are many shopping centres in Madrid. In fact, shopping tourism is becoming increasingly popular, consisting of tourists who spend a couple of days shopping in the main fashion shops in the Spanish capital as well as visiting all of its main attractions.

Mercado de Motores
This market has become one of the most important ones in the city of Madrid and it organises an unmissable special edition on 13-15 May for the San Isidro Festival. Companies who want to exhibit their brand gather in this unique market located inside the Railway Museum, where you can find new and second-hand products for all tastes in what is a bazaar of pure creativity located on Paseo de las Delicias, 61.

Nomada Market
This market located  in Plaza de la Cebada is known for being one of Madrid’s most important independent design fairs. The next edition will take place on May 12-14 and will gather all kinds of fashion, decoration and accessory designers. Visitors who come here will be able to buy products starting at 5 euros and enjoy the many different free workshops and live music as entertainment. Entry is completely free and it will be open from 12.00 p.m. until 9.00 p.m. Now, that’s a plan!

Ciento y Pico market
From May 19-21, this market will open its doors in the heart of Malasaña, more specifically on Calle Velarde, 14. Design, crafts and plenty of creativity applied to fashion products, jewellery and illustrations is what you can find here, all of which made in order to present new brands and designers who offer a product which is different and neatly designed.

Madrid Productores
We finally reach the market that will appeal the most to fine-cuisine fans. Madrid Productores takes over Plaza del Matadero every month to bring excellent food from the 90 artisan food producers from the Region of Madrid. Cheese, vegetables, sweets, oils… This market is ideal for the whole family and it will take place on May 20-21.
