By | 28 June, 2023 | 0 comments

One of Madrid’s most colourful and popular festivals is coming to the city. For yet another year, LGBTI+ Pride returns to the streets of Madrid with a wide variety of activities, music and, above all, good vibes. Here’s a summary of the main events so you don’t miss a thing.

Kick-off with the traditional opening speech

On Wednesday 28 June at 8.30 pm, the festivities will begin with the now famous opening speech in the Plaza Pedro Zerolo. This year it will be delivered by the stars of the film ‘Te estoy amando locamente‘ (Love & Revolution). Ana Wagner, Omar Banana, Alba Flores, Álex de la Croix, La Dani, Lola Buzón and Carmen Orellana will kick off this new edition of the Pride festivities. The artist Manolita Chen will also be in attendance.

At 9 pm, there will be a concert by Blanca Paloma, Spain’s representative at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. The audience will be able to enjoy her latest hits Niña de Fuego and EAEA, the song with which she participated in the famous festival.

The big demonstration, the main event

The demonstration and grand parade will take place on Saturday 1 July at 7 pm. This year’s theme is “Embracing family diversity: equal rights“. The parade will start from the Carlos V roundabout in Atocha and end in Plaza de Colón, where the manifesto will be read out. At 10.15 pm, the group Tess will give a concert in Plaza de España.

High heel race and Mr Gay Spain

The traditional high heel race will take place on Thursday 29 June at 6 pm. This fun sporting activity consists of running down Calle de Pelayo in heels up to 15 centimetres high.

On Friday 30 June, it is time for the Mr Gay Spain competition. At this gala, which ends at 10 pm, Anne Igartiburu will give the Diversity Countdown, and Ruth Lorenzo will perform at 11 pm and Paulina Rubio at 12.30 am.

Music on four stages

This new edition will have four main stages: Plaza de España (‘Show your Pride’), Plaza del Rey (‘Plaza of the Queens’), Plaza Pedro Zerolo (‘Chueca Pride’) and Plaza de Callao (‘Europe Pride’). On these stages you can enjoy the best national music with artists such as Vicco, with her song ‘Nochentera’, Natalia, Carlos Right, Ricky Merino and Pastora Soler.

Enjoy another year of Madrid Pride 2023 and all the activities that have been prepared for endless fun. And if you still don’t have accommodation, here are the offers we have prepared for you at Hotel Moderno.
