The best patisseries in Madrid

If you have a birthday party or any other special event on the horizon and you are looking to sweeten it up with some of the finest confectionery Madrid has to offer, then this is the post for you. Today we are going to explore some of the city’s very best patisseries, perfect for sugar lovers.

Balbisiana

This bakery was founded by Paula. Her love of cakes and sweets began when she was a little girl and used to make pestiños at Christmas time with her grandfather. As she says on her website, that love continued to grow and during the 5 years that she studied for a position in the public registry, she experimented with every possible kind of sweet until becoming a true confectioner.

In Balbisiana we can find a wide variety of sweets, among which their cakes are particularly noteworthy (our favourites are the traditional biscuit tart, the lime tart, the cheesecake and the Banoffee) and their famous truffles in more than 10 different flavours (pistachio, caramel and biscuit, Oreo, Baileys and red velvet, to name a few).

Pastelería Mallorca

The history of this bakery dates back to 1931, when the couple Bernardino Moreno and María García opened their first bakery in Bravo Murillo Street. Very soon their popular torteles and ensaimadas gained popularity among the neighbours. The pastry-making tradition has been passed down the generations in their family until turning the venue into one of the most famous patisseries in Madrid.

They boast a wide variety of products, both sweet and savoury. Don’t miss their delicious torteles, their savoury croissants, their boxes of sweet croissants and their ensaimadas. They also have a wide variety of cakes, such as their raspberry millefeuille cake, their strawberry and mascarpone cake and their three-chocolate cake.

La Mallorquina

Located right in the heart of Madrid, it is probably one of the oldest bakeries in the city, having opened its first shop in 1894. Since then, it has been home to a delicate and delicious range of foods, perfect to delight all five senses.

They also have a wide variety of both sweet and savoury products, including a tray of mini croissants with fillings and cream or chocolate napolitanas, undoubtedly one of their most popular products. You can also find cakes for celebrating special occasions, including a chocolate mousse cake, an almond cake and an egg yolk and cream cake. But you can’t leave La Mallorquina without trying its delicious bonbons and ladyfingers

Three delicious ideas that are perfect for people with a sweet tooth who want to make an event or celebration be all the more special.
